Public regional universities (PRUs), or open-access institutions, is a sector of higher education with learning and teaching-centered roots and a historic commitment to underserved populations. As a PRU, Southern Miss is a quality, cost-effective postsecondary option for a broad range of students. The session will explore each of our roles in making a campus community that serves a diverse array of people and delivers on the very mission of public regional universities.
The University Pillars, a university-wide effort, outlines five domains of student learning that together prepare students for a world beyond graduation where they are confident, happy, and productively engaged. Session attendees will learn how curriculum architects established these domains and how campus educators may join this broad-based initiative unique to Southern Miss.
This session will offer faculty the opportunity to learn how University Libraries can provide research and instructional support, as well as ask questions about library resources, services, and facilities. Please join us to learn more about what University Libraries can do for you!

If we look at our work and our lives as a Venn Diagram, we may notice that the section for self care and growth seems to be shrinking at times. We will look at ways to enhance that section by finding ways to incorporate growth mindset in our courses in order to encourage growth in ourselves, others and help to build a better campus community
The session will share the results of fusing the Course Contents (Graphic Design), Service-Learning, Active Learning, ACUE practices, and Career Centered Objectives to cultivate an engaging classroom community while building a connection with the non-profit community.
Audience members can expect to learn how participating in USM's Service-Learning, ACUE, and other Faculty Development seminars, courses, or activities could help them create a unique learning experience and project(s) for students. Depending on how the different pedagogies are integrated, it could generate a recipe for student learning. They will also get an opportunity to see how using these different pedagogies affected the student's design work and how it brought Sophmore-level Graphic Design classes closer to each other.
