An Honest Community: Addressing the Growth of Cheating Enabled by COVID and Technology
When classes became a largely de facto online experience, scholars of all levels became dependent on technology in new ways whether it be for submitting assignments or for using programs like TurnItIn to detect plagiarism and other issues. Yet, there has recently been a boom in methodologies used by students that bypass plagiarism checks and enable student dishonesty, thus this workshop will provide examples of student behavior that disrupts the academic community and discuss how to discover this hidden deceit to maintain the value of the academic community.

A Recipe for Creating A Classroom Community
The session will share the results of fusing the Course Contents (Graphic Design), Service-Learning, Active Learning, ACUE practices, and Career Centered Objectives to cultivate an engaging classroom community while building a connection with the non-profit community.

Audience members can expect to learn how participating in USM's Service-Learning, ACUE, and other Faculty Development seminars, courses, or activities could help them create a unique learning experience and project(s) for students. Depending on how the different pedagogies are integrated, it could generate a recipe for student learning. They will also get an opportunity to see how using these different pedagogies affected the student's design work and how it brought Sophmore-level Graphic Design classes closer to each other.
